My last day in shanghai was also St. Patrick's day. After spending the morning in some shops i found a guitar in the hostel and spent a fair few hours trying to learn it...this confirmed the fact that I have no rhythm and timing isn't a concept I think i can master but i think learning to play an instrument will go on my list of planned achievements.
An environmental activist who was hitchhiking across asia back to Denmark had a violin so in the hope of having a little irish influence that day a couple of us had a little jig....and drunk heineken...which is closer to Ireland than a china made beer. We all went fir dinner and the Chinese girl with us chose while baked fish with the head and lots of chillies something i would never have ordered but it was delicious and soft.
The next day i had my last morning pancake from Chinas street food packed my bags which a lady in the hostel adjusted for me so not the weight is on my hips instead if my shoulders and it feels a million times better. I managed to fond the airport and got my plane to Hong Kong.
Inventory 95% left behind- 1 flannel, 1 china guidebook, some small cakes, 1 broken bra ( i have a spare)
Im writing this in Hong Kong but i will start a separate blog explaining what it like.

Nicola You are mental - of course the backpack is meant to transfer the weight to your hips - that's what all those straps are for. Also good to see you travelling hasn't got in the way of your lack of geograpical knowledge - I suppose Heineken is closer to Ireland but it's also Dutch beer! Hope you have as much fun in Hong Kong as you have had in Shanghai. I don't want to know how your bra got broken and please leave the guitar playing in china! Miss you kiddo xxx
