16th May 2005 5.30am we had to get up!!! 5.30am, I ask you!!! But it was well worth it! We travelled into the Colca Canyon, on the way the Cruz del Condor, we stopped and viewed the amazing Inca Terracing, the best I've seen yet and some of the tombs which were set half way up the cliff faces. Arriving at the Cruz del Condor at around 9am, set in the heart of the Canyon, where you can look over the edge and suffer big time vertigo! We sat and waited, then all of a sudden there they were, the most amazing birds I have ever seen, the Condor's! We saw three adults and one baby, they glided metres over our heads to the point you actually heard them whistle past! They are massive but so graceful! We went back to Chivay for lunch and then headed back into Arequipa, we also saw Lamas and Viconas (similar to deer). In the evening we went for dinner with Saffy, Stu and Jonny and a couple of other girls (who's names escape me!), they are all so lovely and hopefully when I get to Oz I will drop them a line and hook up!
