Today began in Mobile, Alabama and ended 3 hours west at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Got up at a reasonable time and headed across Alabama, Mississippi and in to Louisiana.
We stopped at a McDonalds for some lunch and who would have imagined that it tastes just the same as at home. We refilled our drinks and headed off back on the road. Time of arrival here was just after 1 o'clock and checked in which was no problem.
After checking out the room, which is nice, clean and comfy, we headed ou to the Precision Indoor Shooting Range. The range is only 5 miles from the hotel and it has guns available for rental with a wide variety of calibers. The range itself is nice and air conditioned. They provide ear protection and eye protection. You can choose your target and the gun you would like to use. We tried 2 guns, a Glock 9mm and a Rhode Island Armory 45. It was fun!
After that we headed towards downtown Baton Rouge to see some of the city. Please be aware, Friday afternoon traffic is extremely heavy and slow. After eventually getting through the traffic, we came to a road that took you down the rivers edge and up through some of the sights.
As time was getting on, hunger struck us and lead us back up to the Mall of Louisiana, where we found a Subway. Their BBQ Pulled Pork sub is very good. After a good feed, I went downstairs to the hotel pool to do a few lengths. I have been trying to get swimming a lot more and taking the opportunity of the nice indoor and outdoor pools.
Another easy night at the hotel with an early rise tomorrow. That's all for now but I will keep you updated on the first full day in Baton Rouge.
