Today was a day of travelling. We set off this morning from New Orleans towards Mobile, Alabama for our next destination. The journey didn't take all that long, about 3hrs.
On route we took a detour to see the beaches of Biloxi. It is definitely something to see. With the White sands and beautiful views it makes for a nice drive along the coast. After that we continued, after a drink stop at a gas station, over to Mobile.
We are staying just outside Mobile in a town called Daphnie. Our hotel for this location is the Hampton Inn and we have a room overlooking the bayou with a balcony. It is a very nice hotel with a comfy bed and plenty of room.
We had intended going to a shooting range but discovered that one didnt hire guns and the other had insurance restrictions on age. So instead we went up to the Bass Pro outdoor store which is definitely worth a visit. With it's super extensive range of outdoor goods from clothing to guns and atv's and boats. I ended up getting a buoyancy aid for under $20 - great buy. After that we headed for dinner.
The place we chose was The Original Oyster House. This is a local restaurant that serves local style seafood dishes. I had crab claws and shrimp. It consisted of southern style battered shrimp and crab claws, deep fried and served with corn on the cob and red beans with rice. You can't get any more southern. I would recommend a visit to this restaurant, it is near the USS Alabama Memorial Blvd.
After the meal we headed back to the hotel for a swim and to chill out for the rest of the night. I will post again tomorrow, that's all for now.
