We arrived in Hoi on 4th June at 6am. We were tired from the overnight journey on the sleeper bus so we checked into the hotel where they dropped us off. At $10 US a night it was more than we would normally pay, but was probably the nicest place we stayed so far. It had air-con, bath, swimming pool and free toiletries (took the lot). We left Saigon for Nha Trang on 31 May. Basically the whole day was spent travelling. We left at 8am and didn't arrive until about 6.30pm. The actual distance between the two is not that far, but the roads in Vietnam are quite bad and it was slow going. Luckily, we had booked a sleeper bus, despite travelling in the day, as we decided it would be more comfortable for the long journey: good decision. We got the bus to Vietnam on Wednesday 27 May, from Phenomphen ( the town I find hard to spell). We left about 2pm and the journey took around 8hrs, but was very comfortable as we were on the luxury bus. We managed to negociate a small discount as we bought our visas and other bus journey from the same travel agent. They were very strict at the border, we had to have our temperatures taken before we could get across. They are getting more strict everywhere now ...
