Antigua is a small town at the base of three volcanos. It used to be the capital but after realising it's susceptibility to complete wipe out - they then made Guat city the capital.
It has a grid system with a central park and a few key structures (arches, churches etc) so it SHOULD be fairly easy to find your way around.
The buildings are, well the photos will be a better job at describing this than I can ever manage.
Kim and I went up a volcano on her last day. It's started foggy and wet when we got in the minibus. When we started walking the rain cleared and when we reached the top the clouds gave way long enough to ooooo and aaaaa at the view. There were men on horses following is up the first half saying 'taxi, taxi' for anyone who didn't have the same opinion about walking as me.
There was a rebel in the camp who decided he wanted to walk literally to the top / mouth of the volcano. He was an idiot, Kim back me up. When he was coming down he started little rocks rolling in our direction and for a split second i was imaging a volcano rock avalanche and what was the best direction to run in (dad you trained me well)..this was all in my head, the whole time I stood next the the fire / furnace rock eating my marshmallows from a stick. Yuuummmm.

Afrim Thanks for the shout out, David. Your casita is gguoeors! I'm a total sucker for the interior courtyards so common in Latin America. We're eager to see many more photos and narration from you. You seem to have made a pretty big splash in the few days you've been there. Who knows what you can do when you don't still feel like a guest. Look out Antigua!
Hariam My very favorite thing about Spanish aritetcchure is the courtyard so lush and relaxing. I wish it made more sense to have them in Denver. I'm so happy you're making yourself at home there! It's been awesome to see your facebook updates and your blog posts. Don't forget about us here in Colorado.
