We have gone back to travelling long distances on buses again.
Starting with an English breakfast with a twist along with fruit juices and a hot chocolate we prepared ourself for the day.
On a separate note, the fruit juice that are on offer taste completely different to back home. You can taste the fresh fruit and makes a massive difference, also making them filling. Between us we have had, apple, banana, pineapple, orange, and the only one not worth recommending is the lemon.
Hiring out a pedallo to kill some time, seemed a good idea but the lack of quality and places to go became more comical than exciting so heads back to shore.
Going on a spending spree of snacks for the travelling ahead, the day was made by the news that Southampton had won their opening game of the season.
Jumping on a bus, we spoke to a Belgian couple also going to Arequipa as well so can follow them. The second that our bums hit the seat we indulged ourselves in Pringles, chocolate, biscuits and the local popcorn (which is definitely worth trying) and spent most of the journey pulling faces at each other, trying to wind each other up and looking at the pictures of our adventure so far.
The bus itself didn't provide much room and with a lot of locals getting on and off the bus, including a beggar, we choose to keep our stuff between our legs taking up even more room. Despite the lack of freedom to move the silly fun and games seemed to pass the time.
Finally arriving we jumped in a taxi to a hostel with a Canadian couple also from the bus not sure where to stay. Arriving at the hostel and unintentionally bringing the taxi light with us, attached to Abigail's bag we set up in a dorm before heading out for a late dinner with the same couple and Sebastian from Argentina. Sharing stories of travelling and advising places to visit for the future we grabbed a sandwich, which tasted amazing and went back quickly admiring the cathedral on the way.
Ending up talking cultural differences between England and Canada, it has enhanced Abigail's desire to go to Canada talking of syrup with everything from pancakes, eggs and even snow. They were completely unaware of squash which astonished us and other essentials too. Hitting the hay on our double beds and slightly paranoid of rolling out we all gradually drifted off to sleep.
