With our room looking like a bomb had hit it where we had dropped our things and sleeping last night. We had a quick generic breakfast of bread, butter and jam then went exploring.
Visiting the frozen maiden which was all about a girl who was sacrificed in the inca times. Having to walk hundreds of miles from Cusco to the volcanos in the sacrificial celebrations and buried with family robs and pottery were all on show as well. Juanita's (the frozen maiden) body had been frozen and therefore preserved at the top of a volcano only to be discovered in 1995 and her body moved to be displayed in the museum.
We then went on the free tour of Arequipa where we informed we were strongly advised to pay the guide. Under false pretences of a "free" tour, after wandering through churches, trying free ice-cream and feeding llamas, we elected to skip the free shot at the end of the tour and ran up the road back to our hotel.
On the run, hiding from the tour, we went to look inside the cathedral and for all of its glamour and awe from the outside, the inside drastically unimpressed. With thick walls for extra support against earthquakes the grandeur was lost and the decoration wasn't half what we expected.
Leaving as quickly as we had entered, we grabbed some food to cook for the first time since being here.
An hour and a half later we had cooked our chicken pasta which so far, fingers crossed, tasted good and hasn't given us food poisoning. Enjoying cooking together and with our music on made is feel very productive and responsible, even washing up after ourselves too.
