Breaky was at 7:15 and we left on the bus for Penang by 8am. I loved the company on the bus and we arrived in Penang at 1:30pm after a scenic ride.
There was one problem though, before we left we couldn't find any accomodation online and so when we arrived there, we were roaming the streets to find some. Usually finding accommodation would not be a problem, but it was the Penang marathon that exact weekend. After the 6th place (W&O Cafe) they finally were able to help us with 2 rooms, 1 for the boys and one for the girls...perfect! We explored the town, we did our own walking tour of what Penang had to offer with it's incredible street art and buildings!
Had street food for dinner and it was time to get rest before my race. The music next door however was so load it made it rather difficult to fall asleep.
I must of slept as my alarm woke me up. Saskia kindy got up as well to wish me well and we said our good byes as she was moving on that day, back down south. I got ready and went to look for the Shuttle bus which I finally found at Kamptar bus station to the starting point at Queensway mall. I think I was the only non-Asian on the bus, thus seemed to be a huge local thing to do. Once I got to the starting point, I met Debbie (my Malaysian friend. I met in Bangkok and the reason I was doing this race).
We started the race at 6am, was so cool as we crossed over the Penang bridge and back, before I knew it, 10km was over. I lost Debbie, but found her a couple of hours later. I took the bus back and met Georgio and Matt for lunch. I was going to leave with Debbie and them to KL, but was persuaded y Georgio to go with him to Koh Lipe instead.
