Welcome to the Rockies! We spent the first night in Colorado Springs and took a quick hike through the Garden of the Gods park before skipping town and continuing west. We poached camping in Pikes National forest and enjoyed an evening soaking in some amazing hot springs. Next stop; Crested Butte to catch up with an old buddy Mike Hardaker. Holy $h!t!! Mike's place is insane. He lives on a 300 acre ranch a mile outside of town and in the shadow of the majestic Butte that is the town's namesake. The ranch has 3 fishing ponds and about 5 miles of mountain bike and running trails that Mike built himself. We cruised into town briefly the first night to scope the scene and have a couple PBRs. They pack a more hefty punch at 9000+ ft!! In the morning Mike and I attempted to catch a few of the fat trout that live in the pond by his house with little luck, before the 4 of us (me, G, Mike and Char, his German Short Hair Pointer) headed back into town to check out the Crested Butte farmers market. Great to see Mike and Char and soak in some Rocky Mountain air!! Thanks for the hospitality!!
