The Big Easy... One of our favorite towns. This was definitely a vacation from our vacation. We stayed in fairly swank accommodation, for our standards anyway, in the warehouse district.
We got in, set our stuff down, and headed to the bike shop to pick up a couple of cruisers for the weekend. After we had our respective rides in our possession we made our way down to the French quarter. Where else besides LaFitte's? - the country's oldest pub for a couple of deliciously icy Voodoos!
We had a fantastic dinner of po boy, jambalaya, and gumbo at Coop's and headed down to Frenchmen Street for drinks and live music. Washboard, harmonica, and guitar, not bad at all!
Saturday involved biking all over town, pub crawling through New Orleans (Pat O's hurricanes were definitely involved) and taking in a whole lot of tackiness on Bourbon Street.
We had another lovely dinner and met up with my old friend Wendy for drinks and an incredible evening. $1 Miller Highlifes started out the night, which followed with fantastic music at The Maple leaf. We then went to a "bounce party" which may've been the evening's highlight. The purpose of this party is to literally bounce and jiggle yo ass as much as physically possible- my oh my, was that a sight. I even received a bit of a tutorial on how to get that perfect booty bounce. We wrapped up the night with a bit more dancing at the retro party. Great, funky, old music and dancing = a fun time!!
We somehow managed to bike ourselves back to the hotel by the wee hours of the morning.
Safe to say our next day didn't involve too much of note, other than air conditioning and HBO, but was nice and relaxing all the same on a rainy Nawlins Sunday.

Romy Thompson Adrian, I wish I'd known you were coming through New Orleans. I live 3 blocks from the Maple Leaf and it would have been great to see you!
