Finally we got out hiking for a night. It was raining most of the day off and on, but got a few minutes of sunshine here and there. We camped by a beautiful, and very full lake. It began storming again around 6pm. I received a lesson in Blackjack and Texas Hold'em as the storm passed. We awoke to hundreds of mozzies and several varieties of slugs on our stuff before hiking a bit of the AT, to Baker's Peak, and then out. Thanks Vermont, you've been a gracious host...

It's still f-ing raining and it's sort of messed with our plans to get into the backcountry. What to do on a rainy day in VT? Well, another 2 breweries... Trapp Family and Long Trail Breweries were dry, warm and hospitable. Mixed in 2 short hikes as well for good measure. We are camping at a campground that offers lean-tos which could be good tonight since the t- storms are allegedly rolling in. Aiming to get onto the Appalachian Trail for a night tomorrow to see...

What's a trip to VT without a stop at the B&J factory. The place is doing GOOD business!!! We tasted the new flavor; Jimmy Fallon's Late Nite Snack with chocolate covered potato chip chunks. Delicious!

They make some interesting suds at Magic Hat, including one we sampled that is made from beet juice. We ended up with a growler of the "#9" ("not quite pale ale") which we will use to keep warm this evening as the storm rolls in and we brave it in our meager MHW Skyledge 3 tent.

Vermont rain is relentless. We decided to put our stuff in the tent and make a bed in the car and to watch a movie on the iPad. It's Kind of A Funny Story; worth a watch. Campgrounds have come a long way; a lot of them have free wifi; must be 2011.
