I'm going to attempt to recount my inca trail experience as best I can as I left it stupidly well over a month to do so!!
After breakfast at the prisma the gang piled into our mini van for day 1 of our adventure. This day was not a hiking day. We left cusco and visited a cool animal reserve were we saw some pumas and condors and then onto the sacred valley. This is supposed to be like the "gateway" to the inca trail.
We also visited a village where we got to see how Peruvian women used lama and alpaca wool to make clothing, really interesting. Then had a massive lunch at a great buffet and finished the day in a small town called aguas calientes. Which is Spanish for hot water. This is were we visited our first inca ruins site. It was absolutely unreal. Getting to see up close and personal the 1000's of year old craft mans ship was something I'd dreamed about for so long! Walked around the site and then had the afternoon to explore another ruin on our own which was a short hike up a mountain. Good test of the body under the strain of the altitude. Pretty tough but responded well. Never forget Irish Simons famous quote when reaching the top : "f*** me I recon Harry and Frodo would of had an easier run making their way to mordor !!" Had me in stitches !!
Soaked in the Great view as the sun went down and then headed back into town to the hotel then out for dinner before another early night.
Woke up ready to rip into our first day on the inca trail !!
