Arriving in the wee hours of the morning at cusco's wild rover hostel I was greeted with a pleasant surprise of a free nights accommodation for having worked at the lapaz sister hostel. I was able to check straight in and get a few hours rest.
Up around 8.30am and headed to the bar for breakfast and wifi. Introduced myself to the bar staff who once found out that I was also a loyal wild rover insisted on me jaeger bombing a few to start the day. Met Jamie, a hilarious English guy who I remembered from working in lapaz and just turned out coincidently that we were going to be trekking together to macchu picchu! Really stoked!
We spent the majority of the day getting the necessary supplies and then decided to have a big night on the sauce.
Few drinks after shipping in cusco's beautiful main square then back to the hostel for serious impact. Combined forces with group of young English gap year lads and did a real number on ourselves. I was put to bed before midnight and woke up the next morning on my top bunk still fully clothed, shoes on and spooning my back pack. Very patchy memory- which usually means a good night.
Checked in to the hotel prisma which was to be stage one of our inca trail adventure. Had our debrief that afternoon, met the crew and got all the details. I was roomed with a nerdy English guy similar age to myself. As well as Jamie, nerdy Dave and myself there was :
Deb and joe a lovely couple from the states
Keith from Huntington in California
Sophie from England (lived in Sydney)
Jason from New York
Simon from Ireland
Aksel , osten and Alex from Norway
Albert from the states
And two annoying English gap year chicks.
All really really nice people that over the days to follow became very close friends and thoroughly enjoyed our time spent together.
Our guides name was Rosa. Lovely Peruvian lady who'd had 4 years experience and 179 inca trail treks under her belt. A real pocket rocket!!
After the debrief went out for some final supplies, a bite to eat with Jamie , Dave and Sophie and back to the hotel for an early night.
Was very restless in anticipation of my life's biggest adventure to date!!
