A day wandering DC. It was great to have a sleep in as the museums don't open until 10.
First stop, The Whitehouse. All quiet there except for 20-odd gardeners and security at the gates.
The others all wanted to do the American History museum, so Lissy & I decided to do the Botanic Gardens instead, followed by a relaxing lunch & some shopping. We had a lovely afternoon. I even almost handfed a tame squirrel in the park! I say "almost" because he did sniff the flower I offered him, but it didn't take his fancy. He was so cute!
Late arvo the gang decided on a movie to kill a few hours, but I opted for a power nap instead. Had the peaceful dorm all to myself & had a terrific 2.5 hr nap.
We had dinner at 7 at a nice brewery. The meatloaf was Amaaa-zing! Then we went to the stadium to watch the basketball. Not my thing at all, but thought "when in Rome...", plus JD went to alot of trouble earlier today to get us cheap tickets. Was nice to experience the atmosphere but 5 mins was all I needed for that, lol. I spent the rest using the free "fan" wifi - ironic huh!
A few went for drinks after, but I returned home to do a much needed load of washing - yay, clean socks tomorrow! Lol.
Anyway, since a squirrel was the highlight of my day, I'm thinking DC isn't my kinda place. On to Virginia tomorrow...
Later,
Tracey
