Wow, I can't believe I'm finally on tour!!! Only been planning this since last August!
The English girl I shared the room with had just finished doing the same tour in reverse & said it was amazing. She gave me some good tips!
We met the group in the foyer at 7.30am - meet n greet & info etc. There's only 8 of us: 6 girls/2 boys, 4 poms/3 aussies (melb & bris)/1 german.
The guide JD is ok (in the pic in the van). He's cool & knows his local history. He's very laidback.
We loaded up the van & hit the road around 9ish. We drove for a few hours (I lost count coz I slept). We had a brief lunch stop at some roadhouse.
Hit Washington DC around 4ish, had time to settle in before our first dinner together at Thai/Chinese. Then we went on a 3 hour walking tour to see the city: the Whitehouse (it was dark, I guess the president was already tucked up in bed?) Lincoln memorial, WWII memorial etc. We were all knackered by the time we got back!
We're staying in a hostel, so us 6 girls are in a dorm of 10. They all went straight to bed, but I'm conducting what has become my nightly ritual of having some ME time with a coffee & my blog. Going to bed now, it's after 1am. *yawn*
Later,
Tracey
