What a terrific sleep I had in that amazing bed!!! And then had a really good free breaky at the hotel.

We left around 9.30am to start the 5 hour drive to Monument Valley. Stopped for kitty picnic lunch on the side of the road.

About 6pm we arrived at Monument Valley where we were doing a tour. We had time to duck inside and change into warmer clothes as it gets cold out there after sunset.

I just have to say straight up - WOW! Monument Valley is breathtakingly beautiful. We did a tour with a guide from the Navajo tribe who live out there. Our guide Richard was great, he was funny and took photos for us. JD says he's the best and always books him for his groups.

The tour started at 6.15pm with us climbing into an open top jeep and setting off on the bumby dirt trail. We stopped several times to look at things and take photos for about an hour and a half.

We returned to their camp grounds (along with several other groups) to have traditional Navajo tacos, they were delicious!

Following dinner and just after sunset the entertainment began by the camp fire including drumming, singing and dancing. Then they got everybody up to do some dancing, it was lots of fun - even though it was a bunch of strangers dancing together in the moonlight. Back in our open top jeep around 10ish to continue our tour. Richard took us to an amazing area where we laid on the rocks and gazed at a million stars while he played soothing traditional music on his wooden flute. It was so amazingly beautiful and moving and brought tears to my eyes.

Back to the jeep to head back. He played traditional music over the speakers as we rattled and bumped along the rough dirt road in the moonlight amongst the looming shadows of the monuments. I didn't want it to end!!!

We got back to our van and had a half hour drive to our hotel. We got there around 11.30pm. More big double beds each...yipee!! I bunked in with Becky.

Such an amazing night...can't get over it...
