Kids are just adorable!
We were having lunch and I was sitting at the table with the older kids, aged 5, and they were asking me questions, pointing to certain things and asking for the name of whatever in English. One boy, Lev, was very quiet and not really participating in our conversation so I tried to include him by asking him a question. He answered the question correctly and before I could say anything, he then proceeded to quote me verbatim, saying "yes, good job!" as he stood up, high fived the air and took his plate to the kitchen.
In our afternoon lesson today, we were discussing Autumn and I had gone out the day before to collect leaves for the kids to make an autumn tree in class. While they were making their tree, we were discussing the colour of the leaves. I gave the one little boy a specific coloured leaf he was looking for and he thanked me in Russian, "spasibo". I chose to answer him in Russian too and said "pozhaluysta" which means you're welcome. His eyes lit up and he stared at me and then called the Russian teacher over to tell her I can speak Russian as I replied to him in Russian! He was so happy he went on to tell the rest of the class!
