We arrived in Nha Trang in the early hours of the morning, and were suprised to see many of the locals already getting there day started with group exercise on the beach. First impressions of Nha Trang, weren't bad or good. It was just ok. The busy main road parallel to the beach, high rise hotels, tacky bars and KFC made us feel like we could be anywhere.

On our second day we took an 'Island hopping' boat trip. We were really excited about it as it sounded like a one day version of the Halong bay trip. In reality it was a different experiance all together! Firstly the weather as crap which kinda ruled out the snorkeling and swimming. Rain poured the skies were grey and we were pissed off we got up so early. Booking the trip with a backpacker hostel we expected a backpacker crowd.. wrong! There where a hand full of fellow travellers but the majority were locals, including giggling school girls, grannys and small children!

We were promised several things when booking the trip, including free cocktails all day on the floating bar, this was certainly not the case... What actually happened was a chubby crew member jumped into the sea in a rubber ring, pouring what I can only describe as petrol into plastic glasses from an old coke bottle!!

Things perked up when the Vietmanese boyband (the crew) took the stage (end of the boat) and played (banged pots and pans) all the latest hits, (I quote from the flyer) like "Mr Brightside" and "Wonderwall".

It was almost SO bad it was good! That night we got a bottle of rum, all dressed up for halloween and hit the local bars to PARTY the night away. We were all in good spirits by then, me mainly because the rum and Nic mainly because Arsenal beat Chelsea!!

The following day we were meant to book our bus to Dalat but unfortunatly Nic got a bad case of the bum wee and was bed ridden for 3 days :(

When he was feeling a bit better wemade our way to Dalat and were looking forward to a relaxing break in the mountain town.... Fingers crossed he survives the journey!
