Sadly we left Sorrento today then headed north towards Orvieto. Along the way we passed through Frascati (a famous wine town) then stopped at the Pope's Summer residence. In spite of him actually being in residence unfortunately he was a bit busy & unable to spare us the time for an audience, will have to catch him next week when we're in Rome! On then to Orvieto, a lovely hilltop town that has managed to maintain it's authenticity throughout the centuries. As the lonely planet states 'little can prepare you for the visual feast that is this Cathedral(Duomo).' It was started in 1290 & took 300 years to complete. Inside & out take your breath away with it's artistic features. Mere words cannot do justice to it's beauty. Hopefully some of my photos may give you a glimpse. Tonight Charlie & I dined in it's shadow, was very surreal.

John Morabito The itinerary you left didn't include dates, so didn't know you had arrived in Italy. The gorgeous Capri, Sorrento, Orvieto in succession, so envious.!!! Charlie loving it?
