After leaving Apolla Bay we continuted along the Great Ocean road did the ring road of Geelong and headed for Sunbury (suburb of Melbourne) where my niece lives. The caravan is parked on their front lawn. The first few days where spend relaxing and catching up with family. One day we did a trip up to Mt Macedon, beautiful homes and gardens. We visited one garden which had lovely trees and lots of sculpures. Rob & Marge returned home to Brisbane, and I drove up into the mountains.
I did the tourist route from Sunbury over to Mansfield up to Myrtlford, Bright and finally stopped at Mt. Beauty. This was a long day with lots of winding road. Next day I decided it was a walking day rather then driving. Mt Beauty is a small town in a valley but very pretty particularly at this time of the year with all the trees in there Autumn colours. I walk around the lake in town, but had lots of company as the local school was doing their walkathong. Drove up to Bogong to Fainter Falls. At least I'm keeping fit with all the bush walking which always seems to be up hill. Back to Mt Beauty for a good nights sleep. Next day I once again set of on the mountain climb through the snow country up to Mt. Hotham and back down to Bright. My mountain road driving has improved but I will never did it as fast as the Victorians. Another thing these cray people do is cycle up these mountain roads. Last night was spent at Myrtleford, another lovely small town. Now I have driven the Great Alpine Road. This little side trip I had the luxury of staying in motels.
Back at Sunbury again and will be here till Saturday when I will north. Will be pleased to move on as Melbourne has gone into winter. There was a little snow on the high country last night, glad I saw it in the sunshine.
Thank you all who have sent me messages, I really enjoy them. Trust all is well at home.
