On the bus on the way to Bolivia I was not well. I had picked up something from Lake Titicaca. I knew we had to leave as we didn't have any more cash and the ATM's in Copacabana only accepted local cards. Finally after losing our tickets and nearly getting asked to leave the bus I found them on the floor and away we went. I was not a happy chappy when we got to this wharf and realised we had to cross a channel. I was thinking, i'm not getting on a boat and before I knew it i'm getting off the bus and onto a tiny wooden boat going over this rough channel. Lets just say I was happy to get to the other side. I managed to eat an icepole before getting back on the bus as I hadn't eaten any solids for some time at this stage. Back on the bus and about 6 hours later we land in La Paz.
We didn't have any hostels booked but knew that we either wanted to stay at Loki or The Wild Rover. Finally found a room but we had our first dorm for our whole trip. Not too good when you're sick and in such a party town as La Paz. After dinner I had to bail on Junior and get some rest. I left him out and he met some other travellers that were staying in our dorm. The Wild Rover has a great bar with free jelly shots and free pouring straight out of the bottle and down your throat. LOVED IT.
The next morning I was ready to go and check out Boliva as I was well rested although Junior wasn't.
I met some people from Melbourne and with Junior still not feeling the best at night time I hung around with them and then I went and checked out the local bars.
The next day we finally checked out the local markets and museums. We went to the Cocaine Museum which was really interesting and then went shopping for Llama jumpers.
We spent 2 more days in La Paz and then we caught a night bus to Uyuani where we would do the salt flat tour knowing that we would be back in the new year to finish La Paz.
