Hi Everyone,
Well we arrived in not so sunny Wales yesterday afternoon, only cloudy and did try a couple of times to rain but managed to stay dry for us.
We left Birmingham just after 9.00am after hugs from John and Maris. We put the address of the Bed and Breakfast we had pre-booked in Australia into "Sally" and followed her instructions.
We travelled mostly on motorways but the countryside still very pretty, sally took us down the M5 and into Wales over the Severn River Bridge, what a spectacular bridge this is and such a wide span. We were a little surprised at how much the toll fee was (six pounds forty pence)!! I suppose this magnificent structure has to be paid for somehow!
We arrived at our B & B in the afternoon after stopping along the way for morning tea and lunch. We really feel we've hit the jackpot with this B & B, lovely modern feeling home although it must be quite old, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners Cyril and Megan are lovely friendly people and have made us feel very welcome.
Unpacking and freshening up we set off to see Jean at the farm which is only 7 or 8 milew away. This proved to be quite a little adventure through some of the narrowest lanes we have ever travelled.
We gave Sally the post code and she gave us 3 options to get there, unfortunately I chose the wrong one! All was well until she instructed us to turn left off the main road into this extremely narrow road, that I don't think was used too often as there was grass growing in the middle of the tarmac! On we travelled following sally's instructions around the narrow twisting laneways, with newly trimmed hedgerows with snowdrops and daffodills dotted the along the way - beautiful. We came to a juction with a truck parked that we had to negotiate around - we thought at least the road is better all freshly tarmacked, we then met a lady coming the other way telling us we would have to turn around as the road ahead was closed with the men tarmacking the road!!
We managed to find a gateway to turn around near a little church that was only a mile away from Jean's farm, we then had to go all around the valley to get back there. We at last recognised the "milk churn" that marks the laneway to the farm to a warm welcome from Jean and Maggie and a most welcome cup of tea!!
Jean drove us unto Letterston to enjoy a fresh fish and chips dinner, glad she was driving we would never have found our way, the fish was delicious.
Jean told us the quick way to go home and it only took us 15 minutes!!
We sank into the comfortable bed and were asleep in seconds.
Chat again soon

Sharon & Colin 19 min and 32 Saturday here with chance of a storm. Very windy last night here in the hills! Should be a good night though for Ness and Steve's summer party. One of the guests is going to play the bagpipes during "It's a long way to the top if you want to Rock n Roll" so I have been warned to step outside during that tune!! Keep enjoying your hol and keep warm. xx
