Temp: 45 degrees High 58 rainy
States Today: Alaska
Alaska Facts!
Rivers and Lakes. Alaska has more than 40% of the nation's surface water resources including over 12,000 rivers, 3 millions lakes greater than 5 acres and numerous creeks and ponds.
Saying for the day: Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even if you don't want to do it.
Rain all day long but we went to the Visitor's Center and enjoyed all of the history and visuals they had to offer. Lots of interesting artifacts from a miner's cabin and all it's accoutrements to the salmon and all of the wildlife in the area.

How long staying: 5 more nights
Fairbanks
With the midnight summer sun shining nearly 24 hours a day, Fairbanks is simply bursting with energy and things to do. Wake up in the middle of the night to find the sun shining brightly, people out biking and gardening and walking the dog. This far north phenomenon is a cool consequence of living on top of the world where 100 pound cabbages aren't outlandish and golfing in the wee hours of the morning is commonplace. The endless sunshine transforms life in the far north in pleasing and wondrous ways. Flowers, vegetables and all things green and growing often dwarf their lower 48 cousins. The sun energizes people to be on the go at all hours.
Because the sun never goes down far enough, there are 70 straight days of sunshine, from the middle of May to the end of July, when Fairbanks doesn't experience darkness, just brief twilight.
Favorite middle-of-the-night activities include, hiking, running, golfing and even baseball -where the Alaska Goldpanners start their historic solstice game at 10:30pm and never have to use electric lights.
