Today started nice & early as usual with a 4 hour bus drive to Chau Doc. After the border formalities & arriving at our hotel, we heading out on a boat trip on the Mekong Delta river. We stopped off at a fish farm & it's neighbouring village to meet some of the locals, & we looked at the local market to see what weird & wonderful foods they were selling. Our guide obviously thought we needed more fruit as he got us bananas, watermelons & some strange apple type thing that looked as though it had a spider's web in the middle...yummy!!
That evening a few of the group rented some motorbikes to ride up to Sam Mountain for the sunset. The bike ride consisted of doing 3 things...1. Making sure you had a helmet....2. Hold on bloody tight....3. Start praying!!!! One very fast & bumpy ride later we were at the top of the mountain, laying in hammocks with a beer in hand. Joel made a friend for life with his driver by hugging him so tightly that he was probably struggling to breathe!! On the way back down, we stopped off at yet another temple & then headed back to the hotel for dinner and only a couple of beers this time.
