30th August.
Boy have these Converse done some walking. Alex has been very good and hardly complianed, much. This morning we set of for the shops. Yay. Well its Sunday and paris is shut, yes shut. No shops, even the department stores are open. We didn't catch the metro, which we have almost figured out, all day except to come home. So we must have walked about 100km today, give or take a few. We waked to Blvd Haussman to a closed dept store, which is close to the Montmatre area and we could see Sacre Couer through the buildings. Kept on walking past the tunnel Princess Di had the car crash in, went to Place Vendome, a very exclusive place which is home to many of the worlds banks and expesive jewellery shops. Tiffanys was closed luckily. Walked on past the Tuilleries and ended up in Saint Germain for lunch, big mistake!! Two hot dogs, a piece of quiche and 3 cokes. 51euro. Nearly $100.00. Went back through Place de la Concorde and on to The Invalides, which was once a hospital and is where the paranoid little man Napoleon is buried.
After having dinner at home we went to the Canal St Martin. Nice but a bir run down area of Paris.
I love this city.
