The pyramids were pretty cool. The entire complex had several pyramids and structures, with the largest being the Pyramid of the Sun. I definitely was the slowest getting up the crazy steep steps but finally made it to the top! The view over the complex made it worth it. Scripturally speaking, this area could have been home to the Jaredites or other peoples of the Book of Mormon. Overall the pyramids were just incredible to see the work that must have gone into the process. Kylie and Malikai raced over and climbed another pyramid. Her coach gave her several workouts to do during the break. Mission accomplished.
It was a beautiful day, crisp air, although sewage reeked throughout the area. We can't seem to get away from that smell both in and out of the city. Our driver took us a crazy way through back roads and farm land. We saw cows, sheep, among fields of corn and hay.
We saw several other groups of Americans. In the small towns everyone turns when they see blonde coming their way. Kind of feel like I need a brown wig the next time we go to a city such as this.
The air was super thin in the mountain air, but it mostly affected me, so maybe it was a lack of being in optimal hiking shape!
We ate at a little restaurant that seemed to cater to tourists. They sold tequila and Narci was especially mesmerized with the worm in the bottom of the bottle. The food is very traditional. We are a bit wary of any fresh lettuce or salad, basically anything that uses the water. There was a table of Americans chowing down on salads. I felt bad for them later tonight. Read the warnings people.
Overall a great day. Memories made for sure.
