Happy Thanksgiving in Hell, Grand Cayman, hahaha. There is one tiny spot on this island that looks like the volcanic photo in the blog. I can't wait to upload some of Jeff's photos of this beautiful place.
Grand Cayman was a bit tricky, and we didn't find a great deal out of the port. We ended up taking a bus over to a beach and hanging there for about an hour, where everyone soaked up rays, played in the water, and the girls got their hair braided.
Jeff hooked up with a local driver at the beach, who agreed to take us all throughout the island for $10 each, a price we couldn't beat.
Our first stop was Hell, a wierd volcanic spot that had lots of iguanas, a post office, and a couple of small stores. Grand Cayman had three ships come in all at once, so every place was packed.
We then headed over to the the Turtle Farm, which is where we will definitely spend the day if we ever go back to Grand Cayman. It was an incredible research facility, more like a Zoo. Only our family, and Ryan went in, everyone else went to check out the dolphins and the Rum cake factory down the street. (They brought us yummy samples from the store :) Anyway, the turtle farm was amazing! The kids got to go into the tanks to hold the baby sea turtles, and we also got to see some of the huge and endangered turtle species from around the world.
We did not go into their large lagoon to play with the sting rays and turtles. Dave Miller was our bus driver, and just by saying his name, we got 50% off!! If we would have had more time, we would have stayed their all day, and played and snorkeld in the lagoon.
Dave took us back a very long way, and told us all about the history of the island, and even stopped at the grocery store for one of the kids that was running a fever. Everyone grabbed yummy snacks, and watched the funny chickens and iguanas in the parking lot. We all enjoyed stopping to see all of the beautiful homes and hear about the residents. We even got to see Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez's home that they had just purchased together.
We made it back to the ship in plenty of time to wait in line for a while, and purchase more souveniers. This part of the trip was tendered, so we had to take little mini boats back and forth to the island.
