I am so sad,, I had the BEST pictures of this entire trip all on my phone, which was stolen out of my bag as we walked across the street to the port. So, no photos yet of this awesome day!! I hope that I can get some good ones from Jeff's camera and our little camera to post.
We had come to Cozumel the last time we cruised, and had an amazing time in Jeeps that we rented to drive around the island. So, we all hit the rental counters when we got there, but most of the vehicles were gone. We ended up across the street from the port, with promises of VW bug convertibles. I don't think anyone realized that they would be versions from the 60's, hahahaha.
These bugs were all shiny and painted new, but the insides were burnt or bombed out, and a little scary to drive. Poor DJ sat in the front seat of their bug and his seat didn't have a stop so every time they moved forward or stopped his seat would slam to the front or back. Alyssa was behind him and had to keep her feet up or they would have probably gotten chopped off!!!
Our crew was all in our car, and we hit up a small ruin where there wasn't much to see, but lots for tourists to buy. We went back on the road and hit up the larger ruins near the other side of the island, which afforded us to see most of the island's beaches on the way. It was a georgeous day for driving and hiking the ruins on the island. Everyone had a great time, and I ended up talking Aunt Sandie's ear off about the Book of Mormon, and all of the peoples from the time when the ruins were built. We took lots of pictures of the kids at every part.
We then headed to Carlos and Charlies for some beach time before we hit the port. Their beach is pretty nice, and most of the cruise crowd had left when we got there. We negotiated for more souveniers, and hit the road to get back just in time.
Luckily, I noticed my phone was missing right away, but with the boat about to take off, we had to go straight back to the ship. I spent about $100 on internet time changing all my passwords, and Jeff and Blake called AT&T and Apple, and my phone was remotely wiped to protect our identity. The pictures are what I really am sad about, and it taught me a lesson about backing up my data each day on a trip. I figure the person that stole it needed it more than I did.
We had an amazing cruise and adventures in every port, and were so lucky to go with our family members. It's a trip none of us will forget, and we can't wait to go again!
