Today we were attempting the mighty Pentecost River crossing which ended up being disappointingly tame, no crocs or deep tidal water in sight. This was followed by some very smooth Gibb gravel road on our approach to El Questro, only a 750,000 acre station this time but famous for it’s gorges and thermal springs. It’s often the first or the last stop on the Gibb for most so a good mixture of very clean and very dirty setups! We signed up as promised to kids for the horse riding. The tame intro for kids was booked out so we coughed up for a family trail ride. Something to look forward to on Sunday. We shanked a great spot to camp just next to river, nice and shady and was never that crowded unlike Home Valley. Toilets were very latest in corrugated iron chic which Northern Australia has really embraced, no doubt as a wet season necessity but looks quite good even if it doesn’t sound it! The Dyson hand dryer felt a bit superfluous though! We planned our stay a bit a there is a fair bit to do here, will attack the biggest walk tomorrow after a soak in the thermal springs. The kids paddled in the shallow river rapids and Tom/Cam attracted other boys their age as they attempted to dam up their part of river, am sure management was not as impressed when they left as they all were with their handiwork!
