Only one day to take in Cape Leveque but never mind as we’ll be back! The first 100km to Beagle Bay a pretty bad sandy road, strangely enough the last 90km is sealed. First stop was Cygnet Bay - a working pearl farm. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the tour (run by a girl from Warren NSW?!) which included opening an oyster to find a pearl and some of the naturally occurring ‘keshis’
Those of us brave enough tried some pearl meat served sashimi style, Stu happy enough to suck on the lime wedges instead.
Back in car on more orange sand to ‘Kooljaman’ a campsite on aboriginal land right at the peninsula. Had some lunch and headed to the east beach for a lovely swim- west beach where the beautiful cliffs are has bad currents apparently. Have heard reports of salties swimming around Kooljaman but not today! The campsites were almost on the beach, would have been cool to stay there but we managed to squeeze in the best of Cape Leveque into a day trip and after a long trip back to base had gained back a few more days.
