We are Sailing
The removal truck rocked up this morning at 11.30. As soon as we dealt with the paperwork we were off to Point Samson.
Point Samson is located about 15kms North of Roeboune, just past Wickham. It is certainly a beautiful little seaside resort. We arrived at 1.45pm just in time to check in.
After we checked in, we took the opportunity to walk down through the town to the main cove the town overlooks. I took a few photos of the bay and have posted them on this blog.
You can see in the distance (about 5kms) the iron ore ships being loaded at Cape Lambert. Rio Tinto own the operations.
Point Samson was established in 1880, mainly for the puroses of fishing. However from 1936 to 1966 it was the port where asbestos from Wittenoom was shipped. The original jetty has long since gone, but there are some of the original rail wagons and line still preserved.
After our very relaxing walk along the beach, we then found the local tavern. The tavern is on the second story of an old typical Australian building. The view over the cove is simply sensational. We had a few drinks and rolled back to the resort for an afternoon nap.
After our nap, we went back to the tavern for another drink and a delicous seafood basket. Best one we have had for ages.
Well its time to go and see the Dockers v Essendon game. Since Essendon are getting injections, I hope the Dockers inject me with some enthusiasm and excitement.
Tomorrow we will be doing our longest drive of the trip to Coral Bay. About 7 1/2 hours.
Cheers for now.
