Tuesday 27th February
So moving on today and as the bus was not coming until 1pm I lazed away the morning reading my book, cappuccion and a walk along the beach making sure I had suncream on this time! I now look like I have been wearing goggles dam it!
Transport from Appollow Bay to Port Cambell is not great and if you want to see the sites you really need to jopin a tour, so I though $40 was not bad. So our first stop was Melba Gully where it is beleived that the oldest tree stands. This whole area is National park which resembles a rain forrest as water comes down from the hills here, really beautiful. But the great thing about traveling with someone is that there is someone to ake photos of you. We took a 45 minute tour around the forest before moving on to The 12 Apostles. This part of the trip is seriousley touristy and is one of the main reasons why people travel the GOR. Basically its some rocks that stand alone away from the cliffs and we got some great pictures but my face looks abit red from the day before! Then on to Loch Arch Gorge which is where a ship sank on its way over from England, pictures are great! In fact alot of the bays along this side were founded by the English in the 1800's alot of the time by accident or crashed on the rocks, really interesting. Then on to a place called Gibsons steps, which used to be carved out of the rock face but now have been replaced and made safe by concreate ones. (more pictures to come!) Basically it was a great trip and we got dropped off in Port Campbell about 6.00pm. We first had to get our key from the office before making our way to the backpacker house. Well the place is great and is located only a few feet away from the beach and the varander at the front looks over the bay and beach fantastic. After dinner Rebecca and I descide to go for a wonder and to our amazement there was a th most amazing sunset, we couldn't beleive our luck. We quickly started taking pictures from the front of the hostel, then went to the end of the fishing pier before taking a short walk up to the look out.We spoke to some local and they said it was one of the best they have ever seen so we left really lucky. (great photos when I get them loaded!)
Wednesday 28th February
Well what a disapointment to wake up to cloud and drizzley rain today after last nights amazing sun set. So we got up and we both had our next destination to organise and as I could not get a signal on my phone I had to buy a phone card. The tourist informatin centre were great and there was an earlier bus from me to get tomorrow morning to Warrnambool so all sorted. Rebecca and I decided to club together to have a luxery dinner that evening so we went to the supermarket and baught steak and wine. We then went for a walk up another view point of the bay and just got attacked by flies and rained on! So the rest of the day we did our own thing. I mootched around the shops and sat on the beach later that after soon as the sun came out. By 4.30pm we were both hungrey so we started on dinner, I did the steaks with homemade pepper sauce and potatoe wedgeswith made up garlic and herb seasoning, I was really pleased with it. Rebecca did a huge bowl of salad with a fantastic dressing she made. We then got the best table on the varander of the hostel and ate! By now the evening sun was out in full force and we ate and chatted all evening. Oh then for dessert we had tropical tin fruit with ice cream!! To us it was a feast after pasta and rice for weeks. No amazing sun set this evening so we felt really lucky to have been there last night.
Tomorrow we will be going our seperate ways, me abit further along the GOR, Rebecca is off to Melbourne.
