Sunday 25th February
As much as I would like to stay, need to check out today. Got the bus about 11am and it travelled along the GOR, with some fantastic views and I made sure that I sat on the left hand side of the bus so I could see them.
Appollow Bay has a total different scenery compared to Lorne. For a start it is surrounded by rolling hills which make you think that you are in the Derbyshire Dales. But then you have this amazing half moon sweeping beach, quite different from the cliffs and beaches I had just come from. Much quieter and less trendy with the backpackers than the beaches before too. The hostel was abit old and my matress seemed to have lost all its spring but the the people who ran it were very friendly and picked me up when I arrived and they had great views of the sea from the lounge.
Once settled I went for a wonder along the main street and had lunch at fresh fish & chip cafe. How amazing. Basically you go in pick the fresh fish caught that day from the counter, scollops, prawns squid, white fish and then they either grill or batter it for you and of course I had chips with mine! I had a mixed platter for one which had a sample of all of the above and I have to say it was fantastic, you could taste the freshness. And as I ate them out side it seemed that it was a popular place with lots of people coming in and out. Well worth spending the money. So after completely stuffing myself I headed for the beach for a snooze! So that evening I just chilled after my huge lunch and started looking at my next location.
Monday 26th February
Met my room mate today, Rebecca who is German. As it turns out she is leaving for Port Campbell tomorrow as well and is even staying in the same hostel as I am! So we decide it would be good to go on the same tour which will take us from Appollow Bay to Port Campbell and will stop at all the sites along the way and to cut costs we check with the hostel and ask for a twin room which just get. So the rest of the day we do our own thing and I go for a long walk along the beach, finish my book The Da Vinci Code, which I thought was quite good. But I got so involved with the last few chapters I hadn't noticed the sun come out as it had been cloudy fo the first half of the day. I had a snooze, leaving my sunglasses on and yes woke up with abit of a red face with white patches around my eyes!!! What an idiot I felt. So went and baught a new book and treated myself to a huge chocolate chip muffin and cappuccio lovely, just what the doctor ordered. That evening I had to repack my bag and sort all the stuff I had accumilated over the past weeks and it turned out I was deffinately going to have to sent a package home at some point! But pleased with my packing, I think you get better as you go along. No need for an early night as the bus was not going to pick us up until 1pm tomorrow so just read about my next destination and the site we were going to see.
