Manly!
Manly, its a suburb of Sydney and its 30minutes ferry ride from central Sydney across the most beautiful harbour in the world. The ferries in Sydney are awesome, I love them, but not as much as Manly. Its lovely, the wharf has a fab restaurant/venue in the Manly Wharf Hotel. It buzzes with life, the food is ace and the views back towards the city are pretty amazing. From the wharf theres a terrific main street that takes you to the main beach (the Ocean to the Aussies!) Its better than Bondi, I think, now my new love. But on our second visit, we walked along the beach, around the headland, to Shelly beach. As we walked we read signs that asked us to look after their local residents EASTERN WATER DRAGONS! These are the most gorgeous lizards that roam the cliffs and up to 2 feet long (that we saw) they are photogenic and friendly.
What else have we done? We've walked the Bridge! That was fantastic. Of course, I'd done it before, but Peter hadnt and he loved the whole experience. T shirts bought we headed back to our hotel to relax until our night at Lisa's flat in Edgecliffe. We joined her old flatmate Jon and his partner Peter and Peters dog, Toby. I cooked a leg of lamb as a huge favour to Lisa who misses home cooking and as a reward we got our laundry done! Fair exchange! A few bottles drunk, Red, White and a few beers. Perfection.
What hasnt been perfection? The cricket! OK! Enough said, lets move on. (Even the Sydney Cricket Ground was sub-standard!)
Today - as there was no cricket -if u dont understand, dont ask! -we did a walking tour of the bits of the city we'd missed before. So Hyde Park - said good morning to Captain Cooks statue - The botanical gardens, The Domain, Mrs Macquarie's chair, the harbour AGAIN, the harbour bridge AGAIN, the Opera House YES AGAIN! Then we headed on a super fast Catamaran ferry and for the princely sum of 6$ we had a 25 minute cruise to Watsons Bay, superb! Doyles fish restaurant overlooking the bay is a Sydney institution, its been serving 1st class food for 125 years and its service, food and location is brill.
Tomorrow we are heading at silly o'clock i.e.7.10am to the Blue Mountains, so ........GOODNIGHT
