1) Tokyo is a city of 35million people, more than the population of Canada!!! I am one in 35million tonight!
2) there are many crazy things to entertain you here from toilets that play music and wash your behind, to vending machines that have beer, coffee, and cold tea. Lights, music and food everywhere. You cannot grow bored in this town!
3) Train stations are absolute madness here and you have to watch where you are going and as thousands pass you by in a moment you have to wonder where the heck everyone Is going in such a hurry? Doesn't anyone rest in this town?
4) we are staying in Shinjuku which is known for shopping, restaurants and the red light districts. We didn't exactly know we were walking thru one until discovering young men as fashionable as can be handing out flyers. Then amongst the lights I realized you could find any sort of entertainment you were looking for. Young girls dressed in school uniforms to boys with blonde hair beckoning you in. There is a heavy presence of traffickers here from Africa similar to Bankok. I think it might be harder to traffic people into Japan, but human trafficking does exist here. I was approached by 3 different African men While Chris popped in to get a beer from the family mart.
5) Onsen magic. There is something we are missing in Canada, and we have a lot to learn from Japan style. It is quite common for people to go to hot spring baths once a week here. You sit on a little bucket and wash yourself with all sorts of lovely things. And when you are clean you go and dip yourself in the hot spring water and soak. There are often saunas and relaxation rooms as well. This is my favorite relaxing activity here.
These are just my random thoughts of our trip, so many more things to tell you about. For now, I am going to go sleep on the hard futon with my beanbag pillow in my Yukata after I brush my teeth with a Japanese toothbrush (which has the toothpaste built into the bristles) they think of everything here. Sayonara!
