Today's journey outside of Tokyo took us by train through gorgeous mountains to my new favorite spot in Japan....Mount Fuji. It was so wonderful to be up close and personal with Fuji San and to experience it's sheer magnitude! We began with a picnic lunch overlooking the lake and then a rope way tram to a viewpoint to introduce ourselves to Master Fuji. It happened to be a glorious day, sunny with clouds that would ebb and flow around the highest point of the mountain. We enjoyed an ice cream before descending to the lake. This region is famous for hot springs so of course we couldn't resist. The volcanic hot spring we enjoyed had a fabulous view of Fuji and was a great way to relax after days of Tokyo madness. This was a memorable introduction to Japan's greatest natural attraction. I look forward to our anniversary trip with the love of my life tomorrow to Kinosaki Onsen town.
