Vivs Travels
Left Byron Bay, travelled north on the bus. The way forward is defiantely to take the overnight bus, it doesn't seem as long, you get to sleep and you save on a hostel fee!! The day bus from Byron took forever - used the battery up on my mp3 player, my CD player and finished my book - boring!!!
The trouble with Australia is that it is sooo big!! so the bus journeys are soo long! Ah well
Have just spent the last 3 days feeling like I was on a paradise island or on one of those castaway programs!! Jumped in a 4x4 with 9 other people and 2 other 4x4's and sent away with a map, a tent and some food. Fraser island is a huge sand island, looks like paradise, feels like paradise, could have stayed there, had a bit of a culture shock returning to normaility where you could buy things from a shop and use money and speak to other people...no really!
We had lots of places to explore, lakes to swim in sun to sunbathe in, dingoes to fend off, the place is just picturesque. The people in my 4x4 and one of the other ones got on really well, like meeting up with a load of really good mates, except you've never met them before but after a campfire, a few beers and lots of exploring you just get on so well together.
Back to the overnight bus tonight and still heading north up to the Whitsundays. The good news is that some of the people on this trip are also going to be on the same yacht in the Whitsundays, oh god, it's going to get messy......!
a very happy and brown Viv xx
