Well today was the day I was moving on, so the backpack had to be packed again and what a thought that was. I had loved every minute of staying with Katrina and I really could have settled and lived here for longer. Kat was on a late today, so we had the morning together until she left for work at 12pm. After packing my bag, we just sat down with cups o tea and newsed all morning :) it was affa fine.
My flight wasn't until 6pm so I had most of the day before getting the airport shuttle bus at 3pm. I had arranged to meet Chris for lunch at 12.30pm to have a final catch up before I left. We went to Soul Mamas on Fitzroy Street which was a vegetarian restaurant, that her Mum was the accountant for. I ended up having a roast pumpkin pizza which was really good. I didn't know what else to choose on a veggie menu haha but I know I loved roast pumpkin :)
It was so good seeing her again, I paid for lunch after all she had picked me up from the airport when I arrived etc. But due to Chris knowing the waitresses, we got our 4 glasses of wine for free so it was cheap as! We went down to The Beachcomber restaurant the one we went to the day I arrived to see her Mum and I managed to print off my boarding passes for my flight in her office.
I really was sad to be leaving, even though the weather had turned today and it was much colder and windy just like home, but I still could have stayed. I walked from the beach back to Kats flat to get my bags in time to go and get the airport shuttle. There was a bar right next to the bus stop and I was 20 minutes early so a great excuse for another glass of wino before leaving Melbourne.
After checking in my bags, I went through to the international departures, where I managed to claim back the TAX from my IPad and camera that I bought in Sydney. It was really easy and got $100 back onto my card... Sweeeeeet! The flight was about half an hour late, which wasn't too bad at all.
I was flying with Jetstar and it was pretty good for a cheap airline. I was sitting next to a really nice couple that were travelling, so we newsed about our travels for a good hour! I watched Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason on my IPad which kept me entertained. It was a 3 and a half hour flight but with the 2 hour time difference, I didn't land till 11.30pm.
I had booked accommodation at the Uni Halls, which they had turned into a hostel for the summer months as most backpackers were all closed when Christchurch was hit by the big earthquakes. It was sweet, you got your own room and breakfast in the morning. As is was late when I actually arrived at the reception office, it was all closed so I had to phone the dude on call to get him out of his bed and come to check me in. I felt so bad but he said he is used to it.
It was a really nice place though and sweet to get my own room at the cost of a normal dorm. It did have the stale Uni smell but after opening the windows it wasnt bad at all :) Christchurch had 3 quakes the night before I arrived so I was expecting to feel some tremors tonight but I didn't.
It was really annoying because I was wide awake and still up at 4am. Really don't know what was up. I watched a few episodes of Inbetweeners but I was still wide awake. My alarm was set for 7.30am so I wasn't going to get much sleep.
Love being back on the Kiwi land though :) xxx
