Sawasdee! (That's hello in Thai for the uninitiated amongst you!) Hope this postcard finds you all well? I can't remember when I last wrote one of these postcards so if I repeat myself, I'm sorry! Basically, this week has been up and down! We went to Koh Tao for the weekend - a little island about 3 hours by boat from here - which has got some of the best dive sites in Thailand. We had heard that there was an underwater festival happening so we thought we'd go for a look. We had a great time (although the whole place lives, eats and breathes diving, which makes conversation a little stilted!). There was a big stage set up where they even had a Miss Koh Tao competition and lots of old Thai ladies dressed in their best clothes doing a very "special" dance - if you know what I mean!??!?! There was also a rumour that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were going to be playing but sadly a rumour was all it was - bet the guy who started that one was chuckling to himself, the whole island talked of nothing else on Saturday night! That was the up for this week - the down part was that I spent the best part of 2 days in bed with a very poorly tummy - won't go into details but suffice to say that the 1.5 metres between my bed and my bathroom was at times 1.5 metres too far! NICE! Anyway - the others rallied round and kept me dosed up with rehydration powders and the like and I am now fully recovered! Am soooo looking forward to the weekend! It's both Laura and Cath's birthdays and so we are having a big party at the school tomorrow for all the kids - and I can't wait! We've been making cards and banners and paper chains to decorate the classrooms and we've got a big fat chocolate cake (Thai style, I'm sure!) on order from one of the restaurants here too! We've got lots of food and drinks and prizes for pass the parcel, musical chairs etc and I've even had to invent a game to be played with coloured socks - long story - but thanks Mum! Straight after school we are off to Haad Rin for the whole weekend and have decided to treat ourselves to a proper bungalow with a bath and HOT WATER!! Yes - after nearly 2 months here I will finally have a bath (bet the others were wondering what the smell was!??! Hee hee!) I'm getting stupidly excited about it - we've bought lots of bubbles (both drinkable and bathable!) and we're going to have a real girly pamper session before going out for dinner- yay! Am sure that there will be many a classic piccie taken - will try and get some more on as soon as I can! Oh yeah - one of the dogs on the beach had puppies! They are the cutest things I have ever seen in my life! Have got lots of photos and will put them on next time I get to a faster PC. Can't think of anything else exciting to tell you - sure I'll have lots next week though! Hope everyone is well - mail soon if you can - the dwindling number of messages hasn't gone unnoticed!
