Vicky's Travels..
Hello all! Sorry I haven't been in touch much this week but I've been far too busy having lots of fun! It's as simple as that! When I sent my last postcard I was in a foul mood over the biking 10k for no parcel incident and was getting excited about going out in Haad Rin that night. That weekend turned out to be one of the best I've had since I've been here!
Where to start!?!? Well, we went out in Haad Rin as planned and met all manner of random people including a group of English people (who up until that point we had been trying to avoid - just cos they were English!) But anyway - we all got talking and had the funniest night - one of them ended up getting attacked by a British Bulldog - I guess you had to be there really! We stayed out all night and came home in the morning, via Nira's Bakery, which sells the best cheese straws EVER! Just what you need after a night on the buckets!
Anyway - after chilling out at home for a bit we decided that we would go to the beach and lie in the hammocks. The plan was just to recover from the night before and recharge the batteries. Hmmm..... Yet again our well thought out plans went awry and we got talking to a girl called Maria (originally from Argentina but now living in London) and Peter, who was South African but also lives in London. Within an hour we were back on the buckets and didn't leave the beach til it got dark! Peter and Maria were staying on Samui but had come across to Koh Phangan for the day. They decided to crash at ours and we all went to the only bar here worth going to, Woodstock. As the name suggests it is a really chilled out place, hammocks everywhere! I'm ashamed to say that I don't remember much else that happened that night - apart from Cath jumping on the back of some random Thai guy's moped and jetting off towards Haad Rin. None of us (including Cath!) are quite sure where she ended up that night but when she returned around Sunday lunchtime she was covered in bruises and has the scabbiest knees you've ever seen! Joking aside, she seems fine now and is almost completely recovered from the injuries she has no idea how she got!
Peter and Maria went back to Samui on Sunday to change their tickets (they were due to fly back on Monday 31 Jan) and they have been with us all week. I've been out and about more this last week than I have since I've been here! Have had the most amazing time - been climbing waterfalls, done Thunder Mountain on the back of a dirt bike, and managed to find my own private beach too! Have taken lots of photos so when I next go to somewhere reasonably fast I will put some more in the albums.
The scabby dog at school seems to have died - thank goodness! We haven't seen it all week - hurrah! Although saying that, the school lunches have seemed a bit more palatable this week...hmmm........!!!!
We are having a quiet night tonight (no really, I mean it this time!) because we are being picked up at 06.30 to go to Angthong Marine Park. I vaguely remember going there before when I last came here but it will be good to go again.
Right - am off to lie in my bright pink hammock now - it's been very handy having a man about the place - all the girls have found Peter all sorts of jobs to do - he's fixed showers, hung hammocks, fitted bike lights etc etc etc! Not sure what we're going to do now he and Maria have gone!
Love to everyone - keep me posted on all the gossip!
