Had an early start today of 3.30 am to get the train to Machu Picchu town where we will be staying overnight. The bus driver who picked us up for the journey to the train station must have done his training in Brazil! We did get stopped at a police roadblock and he was asked for his papers Nick was amazed that he actually had a driving licence, we did however get to the station safe and sound. Arrived at Machu Picchu at 8 am and had a pleasant morning wandering around the town and getting our first glimpse of the inca city high in the mountains. In the afternoon we visited the hot spas for a bit of relaxation - they smelt absolutely vile (not sure if it was the sulphur or the smelly backpackers returning from the mountain!) Our hostel tonight has the railway line at the front door and the raging Urubamba river at the back so not sure how much sleep we will get!
