Despite yesterday's problems we got up and decided we'd give the place another chance. We went down to reception to book a tour to the Imperial tombs near Hue and the airport transfer for Friday. While booking the tour we mentioned the problem we had getting suggestions for restaurants last night. The woman at concierge apologised for what happened and gave us a good suggestion and even got the menu emailed and printed for us.
We walked over to the Citadel and looked around the Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City. First day of rain we had and after a few stops to shelter from the rain we got to the Citadel and paid to get in.
It was peaceful inside with no motorbikes and no obnoxious locals. We wandered around the palace and the ruins of other buildings for about an hour and then decided to go and get some lunch, ate near the supermarket and then bought some more water and snacks before walking back to the hotel.
Arrived back at the hotel just in time as a thunderstorm rolled in which lasted the entire afternoon and evening. When we arrived back at the hotel the assistant manager approached us and apologised for what happened and offered us a free dinner at the hotel that night. We played some pool in the lobby area that afternoon before going to dinner at 6.
