Our flight arrived at Dublin Airport at 12.30pm and we went to the Hertz Car Rental desk after easily passing through customs. Caught shuttle bus out to Hertz office at the airport and after waiting in a long queue we finally got our car, a Volvo stationwagon after we had to be upgraded as they didn't have the car we were supposed to have! All the cars were dented and scratched so after our bad luck in England we made sure every dent and scratch was recorded....

Up at 6am, no time for breakfast and we went straight to Heathrow to drop off our hire care. Arrived at Alamo to drop off car to find someone had kicked in the back of our car over night while it was parked in the hotel car park. Lost our £500 deposit (thankfully we were insured and got it all back on our return to Australia) but it really was a hassle we didn't need. Checked out of our Bath B&;B at 9am heading towards Salisbury after negotiating the detours around road closures on the A36. Turned off towards Stonehenge. Very crowded, the most crowded sight we had been to so far. A fence kept you a fair distance from the stones themselves and the noisy crowd kind of detracted from the atmosphere a little. Caught the bus back into the city and went to internet cafe again to email again and to find some contact information for British Airways to confirm our flight out to Ireland in two days time. Checked out of our Cardiff B&B at 9am and drove off in search of Caerphilly Castle. Couldn't find a turn off from the motorway so continued on to Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre. Toured the museum display and the excavated ruins of the bath house before driving around to the amphitheatre. Interesting to see such a sight in the middle of a town.
