So here I sit.....got a day behind in writing and with my crappy memory makes it a challenge to put together a coherant tale of me adventures to date. I managed to tweak the brain abit and here goes...
I brought the laptop to breakfast at the hotel to figure out where next....busy place I found an empty table and started to spark it up....and was asked by a couple if it was okay to sit with me as all the tables were full...no prob...I officially met Irene and Randy.
They talked me ear off...nice folks he's a teacher and she is a writer for some newspaper I mentioned I write a lil blog....she then went on about how its putting writers outta business LOL....oops.... So they were from Utah...so I asked for some pointers...off they went...rambled off a bunch of names of places ... so it kind of reinforced that I ahould try to see the Arches park. Sooo had a general direction....thats it for now. Said me goodbyes n off I went. Packed up got one of me socks in a choke hold and triped the other....so was geared up n ready to go.
Pulled out the map....saw that there was a park road south of town...seemed to be the right direction.....k thats it for now. Off I went...the plan to to take the scenic hiway that crosses the Bighorn forest national park. Off i went...pretty uneventful ride dow the interstate for a bit....then ended up in Buffalo....figured ya know what I'm not in a rush...so wandered downtown n found a lil cafe right on the river that goes through down town...Grabbed a big coffee...and they had these cool rocking chairs out in the front. Parked me butt in the chair and in the nice sunny morning. I commenced ta rockin n sippin...good coffee. Right about there this elderly gentlemen hobbled up to me....said and I quote. "Sonny, that there Beemer yours?" I said "Yup" he commenced to tell the tale of how he had a beemer for ten years...had hogs n jap bikes but he loved that Beemer! He turned and walked away....didn't let me get a word in other than Yup.....kinda weird. decided I best sip da coffee quicker....next old guy might be a Harley fan that hates Beemers....and he might have a cane.
Hopped on n off I went...its a scenic byway...awesome....and it was... LOL. Hardly anyone
on it. Passed through a cool forest and up and up till was close to the snow again...and there are usually twisty roads to go with that lol....a few switch backs... so awesome when ya find em specially if no one is around. Thats why I got the Iphone gps app..it fires regular location hits of me to a few folks whom I suspect have concerns for my well being....also to Facebook.....remember if the dot stops moving...send a dude with a shovel to scrape me up.
The ride was fun through the park and the terrain changes so much.... almost everywhere ya
look is a picture. I have to temper my trigger finger on that a weeee bit. I popped on the west side of the forest in a little town called Ten Sheep....ya Ten Sheep...very original...sounded like a few of the deliverance types might live here...so just passin through. Stopped at the next town...Worland....not so uhh hill billy. found a nice Mexican cantena with cool beer as it was a pretty warm day...nice time for some enchilados n cervasa. Again not in a rush...ate n burped n hopped on da bike and off I went.
Next town was...Thermopolis....yup...expected to see Greek ruins, but no its Wyomings largest termal springs site....soooooo I could soak me bones potentially. I was a bit cautious to not get too excited as the last town I passed through on this trip with this potential was called Silver Hot springs....made a point of stopping to find a place to soak there. Got some gas asked the dude...where can I find the hot springs...he looked at me and kinda said "Yaaaaaa we don't really have any the town name is a bit of a scam". I pouted a bit and left.... this time...the real mackoy I found the springs and there were public pools everywhere. I stopped at one...next prob...what do i do with my stuff. Well they had lockers and stuff so whoo hooo...I jumped in the hotest pool I could find, it was called the Lobster Pot .... felt awesome. I had fun for about an hour and time to hit the road... toweled off..felt fresh hopped on me steed. Hmmm it was starting to get hot out.... n off I went.....I thin it was here that I decided to try to hit Rock Springs.
The ride was pretty nice, but I was getting stiff....and pulled onto town just in time I think...turns out The Sundance kid worked as a butcher here..... cool. the hotel had a bar....so grabbed some grub n some....o da Capn....staggered back to me room...and fell asleep sitting up.......
