Seems the mornings come early. I guess that's a good thing. I pulled back the curtains and woo weeee. It was already sunny and hot out.
I started with my ritual hose off. Felt good nice hot shower on the neck definitely helps...for a bit. Started pounding back some Ibprofens, not sure if they help but bit of a placebo effect i suspect. Trotted off for the free breaky....each hotel is different its always a wild card....hardly seeing any waffle makers ... sigh... So this place you get a check off box menu...you get to pick one drink... and three entrees. Okay......so I did....all the wholesome ones...eggs...bacon...hash browns. Whilst there..... I tried to figure out where I was going......man took a lot...ultimately just decided to try and see the Flaming gorge.
Off I went...would decide where to go after that from there....
The ride there is pretty cool.....had to ride through a forest park...not much traffic...all good then it popped out of no where... 11 descending switchbacks in a row...and almost no one on the road.sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I got a work out on that one. The bike is riding awesome.....its made for this stuff. Awesome ride so far.....I noticed when the boots rub you can actually smell it....
So far no one is annoying me on the road and no wild life is trying to kill me. The ride to the Gorge just gets more scenic as you go. Then you are there and you look out and the dam is pretty cool you have the lake below....very scenic...
So now what....I just kept going....to the arches.....bu tI had to hit the interstate to do it. As I did the temp just kept rising...30......32....34.....37......39........42..... fargin hell...that is hot stuff to ride in....my tongue was flappin under the helmet...then of course to add to it the winds picked up across the rode....so I was getting bounced hard....tongue flappin around behind the bike somewhere. Thought it was going to get caught in the rear tire.....debated jumping in one of the cars I was passing...all windows up air on ahhhhhh.... It is like riding in a hair dryer....ohhh ... its a dry heat....my eyes started drying out......so had to stop at some point I found a lonely gas station and pulled in. A/C ahhhhhhhhhhh rough dude at the counter just stared at me....I got a cappuccino slurpee.....and pounded it back then proceeded to cry like a baby when the brain freeze hit..... dude behind the counter just shook his head....I almost found religion on that one...owwwweeeeee..... they should have flow regulators on the slurpee straw as a safety device. Whilst crying like a baby a local came in did the Y'all not from round here are ya?" I muttered a nooooo.... so he commenced to give me tips on what to see. So he said had to checkout the Dead Horse Canyon. I did manage to mutter a thanks and all that.... friendly to tourists even when in angst ... nice....
Off I went to the Arches...and its 42 degrees and I still got gear on.
If your wondering Arches is pretty much stuff you always see in the road runner cartoons. This place was his inspiration for the cartoon. So entered the park and its switch backs right out of the gate LOL. You pop out and its like Monument Valley. Crazy cool.......
So I drove all through the park ... its big, I stopped and took pictures everywhere....amazing scenery. No hikes too hot and my boots not made for walkin...LOL. I crawled back on bike....amazing where you can sweat....
Got out of the park after a while....and decided to crash in Moab..I was done.......its a major tourist town so lotsof hotels....found a Super 8 and it had a hot tub.....does help the neck....but so do the pills....LOL
Soaked and crashed...........big decision tomorrow......north or south......
