Have u ever had the feeling that u didn´t belong at a specific place or at a certain happening? Sure... But have u ever had the feeling that not only did u not belong there, but that u REALLY DID NOT belong there? I had that feeling just the other day in Puerto la Cruz, when a dude from Oz and I found ourselves in the middle of a Venezuelan college graduation-party with hundreds of people. Parents, siblings, friends, graduates... and two tourists... us... But the wizard of Oz and I soon worked our magic and got drunk enough to blend in... At least we thought..., but we didn´t blend in... One could prolly spot us a mile away, like two pink elephants trying to hide in a giant herd of dancing sheeps. All in all it turned out to be a pretty strange evening, pretty strange...
Had a bit of a struggle to get money the last few days in Venezuela. I ran out of Bolivares, and there is only one bank in Venezuela where u can use an international VISA card, Banco Mercantil. I didn´t get lucky until Merida, so I travelled around for two days, only drinking water and eating crackers...
Just gotta comment on the fuel prices in Venezuela, wtf is up with that!? It´s almost free!!! At least one smart move from Mr. Chavez... 60 liters of gasoline is about 3,6 bolivares, which (on the blackmarket rate) is about 1,50 kroner... That´s three times as cheap as 0,5 liters of water!!
I´ve put behind me quite a bit of distance since Puerto la Cruz and I´m getting tired of nightbuses. It´s even harder when u have nothing to spoon, tho I have been trying to spoon several co-bussers without much success. First I caught a 21 hours bus to Merida, goal was to go up on the Teleferico, but it has been broken for 3 years!! Good research there, mate! After spending the day in Merida, I travelled onto San Cristobal were I spent the night. Dodgy place... Dodgy indeed! Then caught a shared minibus to San Antonio the next morning a strutted elegantly across the border to Colombia. No hassle there whatsoever, like a glove. In Colombia I trusted the first person I spoke to (of course), who said I should go to Bucaramanga, and here I am... wondering why the hell I´m in Bucaramanga, as it doesn´t appear to be a very fun place.
The road from Cucuta to Bucaramanga is s´posed to be quite beautiful, crossing the Colombian Andes. I didn´t see anything at all... Everything was covered in mist, fog and freezing rain. I was so cold I tried once again my spooning luck. This time succeding in spooning a pillow.
Haven´t decided what direction I´m heading after this. Would like to go to Santa Marta to trek to Ciudad Perdida. I´m just waiting to see wether or not my feet can accomodate my trekkingshoes again. They are drenched in fear since the last encounter at Roraima.
About the other spoon I was traveling with... Can´t bring u any updated news from that corner as I haven´t heard from him. Ta ta!

Preben Gellein Heisann.
