Day 33
More sun!
I woke up in Northern Utah today to warm weather. yes..woke UP to warm weather. It was already about 60 degrees! This is the first day since I think I was in Niagra Falls, that i actually rode in just jeans and a tee shirt! Amazing! I loved it!
So, stop #1 today was Dinosaur Colorado! This whole area from Vernal onto Dinosaur is famous for heaps of Dinosaur fossils. Although they have closed the parks recently due to lack of funding I believe. WHich is a total drag. Cause hunting for dinosaur bones would be pretty high on the list of totally awesome things EVER!!!
I did manage to snap a few pics of some ...well......Dinosaurs....kind of. you'll see.
I also rode the Stegasauras Freeway! totally bad ass! It was actually an amazing ride thru Colorado back into Utah. I made a few vids of me riding, and they're loud from wind and shaky but hopefully fun to watch. All along the road I kept trying to picture dinosaurs roaming these lands billions of years ago. was just amazing riding and scenery today. top notch!
So, after a great ride of twist and turns and bends all through the mtns. I made it to Moab, which is famous for Arches national park. I was here once before MANY years ago, so riding it on a bike was WAY cool. Again, i took vids and pics, and hope they get uploaded soon.
I even did a short hike uphill the whole way to see the delicate arch, which is the one I thought that had fallen or broken, but was mistaken. So , it was kind of a long hike uphill in 95 degree heat for an underwhelming view of the arch, you'll see pics and vids.
great ride and great sun though all thru the park, it was awesome!
I was starving, and living off protein bars all the time gets old quick. so I found some food in Moab, and thought to ride 60 miles to the town of Monticello, utah. Apparently famous for well.here, this is from their web site...
Monticello is packed full of Old American West history. In the 1800's so many fugitives fled to Monticello to escape the hand of the law in the isolated mountains and canyons that it became known as the Outlaw Trail. Monticello offers breathtaking views, serene wildlife, and fabulous fun. Make your escape and find a little bit of refuge in Monticello, Utah.
anywho...thats where i held up at tonight. I rode those last 60 miles between two HUGE black storms. One towards my left, and the other off to the right. thankfully I made it, and can continue my days of no rain!! awesome!
325 miles today
8,777 total miles.
only 2-3 days left of this leg of my trip. Amazing how the time has gone.
