Cook your shoe on potato!
Day 11
Awoke in Washington state today to go meet Al. No rain on the radar (for now) although no sun either, but that's OK. So I rode to the bike shop and Al arrived EVENTUALLY. It seems his plane circled the Seattle airport 50x or something. But no worries, was still no rain.
Al arrived, it was good to see him, it wasnt good however to see his middle finger sticking up in the back of the cab he was in. Oh, that jokester.
We finally left the bike shop and rode, and rode, and rode. Ok, we only rode 1 block to a Walgreens to pick up some crap. Walgreens is GREAT for crap. Then we rode and we rode and we rode. OK, We only went one MORE block to the Burger King for lunch and to figure out where the heck we were going. I also got schooled on the free and NOT free chicken sandwhich. SHEESH, I didnt even KNOW about a free chicken sandwhich
OK, enough about chickens and BK, and all that. We were ready to roll South and West to the Shore. No rain yet, but its coming.
And boy did it come!
We were drenched by the time we rolled into Astoria, Oregon. Which is where we're at now. It's also the home of the movie "The Goonies" How effing cool is that?
REAL effing COOL!
In all actuallity the ride through the rain today was not THAT horrible. We got wet of course, but I've been thru WAY worse.
Al and I are both hanging out in our motel room, while wet clothes are draped all over the bathroom HOPEFULLY drying. I'd like to add that we also just spent a good hour debating over what setting to put the microwave on while one of my shoes sits nicely inside. We finally agreed to microwave my shoe for 10 secs. So after 10 secs, my shoe was slightly warmer. We decided on another 10 secs. Not bad! And then another 10 secs. NICE! Though all in all it wasnt really working, and a wet shoe is better then NO shoe, So back to the dryer(aka the bathroom) it goes.
We're watching the radar, as the big ugly green cloud is moving more inland and we hope to be riding dry and sunny tomorrow. Though the 5-day keeps calling for more rain along the coast, we'll just have to wait and see how it goes tomorrow morning. I'm also watching Al (for the 2nd time I might add) try to manipulate the window curtains to actually cover the motel room window. Our room is slightly old, 70's style at least. In a screwd up way Im not sure if I want the sun beaming in on me through this pathetic excuse for a curtain or not. If it does beam in, that means no sleeping in, but also means NO RAIN. Quite the double edged sword.
We also had breakfast for dinner. What a great meal!
So, tomorrow we head South coastal all day (in hopefully no rain) to Southern Oregon, and will be just a bit North of the Redwoods forest.
We also just met some more weird people. After going to buy a 40 of Fosters from the mini mart. Who told us that the cast and crew from Deadliest catch is staying here in Astoria tonight. COOL! We meet the weirdest but albeit nice people on our travels.
Bummed I didnt get to See Nancy again coming back south and of course Suede who is arriving back in Vancouver tomorrow and Bobby on Sunday. I fear I will not see either of them on this trip. TOTAL BUMMER. It seriously sux.
They totally have to fly east and see a Splinter gig and hang out in our homeland.
182 miles.
2,535 total miles.
