Hey everyone today is our last day in Brisbane. Before we got to Bribane we stopped off in Noosa for a couple of nights. We really loved it here its a little surfing resort with loads of nice shops and restaurants. There were no campsites in the main resort area so we stayed in a really nice hotel with a pool which we got on standby rate which made it even better! We had a really relaxing couple of days walking on the beach watching people surfing and reading our books by the pool. We set off on thursday for Brisbane in our camper, we were ok until we got into the city centre and then we struggled to find Ruths house, there were lots of one way streets which made it a bit difficult but we got there in the end. Our first few days in Brisbane we spent exploring the city, we looked round all the shops which i found really hard, there were so many pretty things and i couldnt buy anything :-(. We also went to the southbank across the otherside of the city and walked down the river which was really nice, there are museums, art galleries lots of cafes and a man made beach. At the weekend we went out with Ruth, Brendon and Grace for breakfast in another area of the city and looked round some more shops, then we drove up to where they got married which was pretty and went for a walk, stopping off at a vineyard on the way home for a glass of wine. On sunday we decided to have a look at the gold coast and caught the train down to surfers paradise. Surfers wasnt the most attractive place we have been to but it was impressive with hundreds of sky scrapers all along the beach. Tris had a surf lesson here which he really enjoyed, and managed to stand up on his board by the end of it. The next day we had an early start and went to the gold coast again to visit seaworld. We were expecting it to be a big aquarium but it was more like a themepark. We went on a few rides and got soaked they all had a water theme and spent the rest of the time looking at fish, sharks and dolphins. At the end of the day we went to the dolphin show, i didnt think that i would enjoy it because i thought it was a bit mean that they werent out in the wild but they are really well looked after. They have huge lake areas to swim in and seemed to be really happy. We really enjoyed the show, the dolphins were amazing they can jump unbelievably high and we watched them pushing their keepers around the lake, They even surfed on the dolphins which looked like fun. The day after we had another busy day and got the train to australia zoo, this was one of my favourite days so far. The zoo is huge and definately the most interactive zoo i have ever been too. We started off elephant feeding and then headed to the crocaseum to watch some really well trained animals. Then we went to the kangaroo enclosure where you can walk around with the roos and feed them, they were so cute. We looked at a few more animals before going to the wombat enclosure for our own private picnic with the wombats they were adorable, really solid little animals a bit like dogs. We finished off the day looking at the elephants and the tigers. The keepers were actually swimming with the tigers when we went to see them, the tigers kept jumping on them and trying to play, it looked quite scary but was good to watch. Today was our last day in Brisbane and we were quite tired from the past few days so have just had really relaxing day walking round the city, tonight we are cooking tea for ruth and brendon which will be nice. We have had a great week and its been really nice staying at Ruths. Tomorrow we fly to Sydney and we will stay there in an apartment we have found for just over a week, we will update the blog at some point towards the end of our time in Sydney.
Lots of love
Tris and Rach
